Southern Ideal Home Show
The 30th-annual event comes to Charlotte this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
This weekend, the Southern Ideal Home Show returns to The Park Expo and Conference Center. The 30-year tradition is packed with demonstrations, professional consultations, and ideas to inspire your next home or garden project.
As you enter the show, six model foyers offer examples of how to revamp your entryway to make a strong first impression. From a classic vignette with vintage and repurposed pieces to a serene blue-and-taupe color palette with a seaside vibe, these model foyers set the idea-sharing tone for the show.
Don't forget to bring your camera. Taking photographs is encouraged at the show. Some attendees bring house plans or photos of ideas or problem areas in their homes to receive one-on-one advice from industry professionals. More than 175 exhibiting companies will be present.
Two stages offer demonstrations throughout the day. The Ideal Cooking Stage presents programs every hour starting at 11 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon on Sunday. Topics such as Summertime Brunch and Southwestern Summer Supper have a seasonal angle, whereas Pimento: Cheese or Vegetable and Chocolately Goodness focus on certain ingredients. The Ideal Home Stage begins programming at 10:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Home Stage topics address remodeling, energy efficiency, interior trends, and landscape maintenance.
Other fun features include the Parade of PlayHomes with dream playhouses, a pop-up plant sale put on by Oakdale Greenhouses, registrations for prizes and giveaways, and performances from Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel, who promotes water safety.
Show hours are Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $9 at the door, and youth (ages 15 and younger) are free with a paying adult. Advance online tickets are $7. Parking is $7. On Friday after 5 p.m., admission is $5 and parking is free.
