Spread holiday cheer while drinking local craft beer

This Wednesday Triple C Brewing is hosting "Hops & Shops," which will feature gift items from several local shops

This Wednesday, there are two local events to help cross things off your Christmas shopping list while also giving back, along with the chance to win some great prizes.

From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Triple C will once again be putting on “Hops & Shops South End.” Several shops will have pop-up tables inside the brewery featuring an array of gifts. The Boulevard, Small Keys, Jewels by Julia, Pink Social and Beau Outfitters are all scheduled to be at the event. I went to this last year and it’s perfectly designed for someone like myself who has some trouble buying gifts, especially when it comes to the opposite sex.

You can even get free gift wrapping (another huge struggle area of mine), with tips being donated to Bee Mighty, a local nonprofit that helps families with premature babies.

Triple C will have the taps flowing so you can have a couple beers while you shop, and the brewery is also tapping a special pilot batch, Imperial 3C, which is their IPA brewed with local honey. Papi Queso will be on site, and there’s a pair of Hornets tickets being raffled off as well.

Also that evening, Good Bottle Co. is having a Toys for Tots event featuring a tap takeover from NoDa Brewing. For each toy you bring in, you’ll get a raffle ticket, which enters you in for a chance to win one of several impressive gift baskets.

Over the past several days, owner Chris Hunt has been posting the beers that have been donated for the raffle, which include Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout from Cigar City, Bell’s Black Note Stout, Founders KBS, Odd Side Ales Morningwood Stout and Olde Hickory’s Event Horizon, among others. There will also be a NoDa gift basket featuring several of their beers, including Monstro. The raffle begins at 6:30 p.m., and the featured NoDa taps so far are Hop, Drop ‘n Roll, Cold Crash, Santa Baby and Imperial Coco Loco.
