If you're searching for something food related to do this weekend, I have you covered.

First up, this weekend is the Taste of Charlotte festival. If you've never been/have no idea what this is, basically it's a big giant street party with tons of Charlotte restaurants and eateries offering delicious noms (it's a word) while you enjoy the June weather. You can find out all the details here, but some quick notes:

  • Event will take place today, Friday June 6 from 11 am to 11 pm; Saturday June 7 from 11 am to 11 pm; and Sunday June 8 from 11 am to 6 pm.
  • The festival is held along Tryon St. from MLK Jr. Blvd to 6th Street in uptown.
  • More than 30 restaurants will be selling food and fare.
  • Special events, like the 5K at 9 am on Saturday will be roped into the event.

Secondly, 5CHURCH will begin offering a summer tasting menu seven nights per week. The menu, which is comprised of six courses for $60 will include an amuse, appetizer, first amuse, first entrée , second entrée and dessert. Highlights include chilled asparagus soup, chilled lobster with black lava salt, Sous Vide Kobe Flank with fregola, seasonal mushrooms with a whole grain mustard demi glace, Banana Spring Roll with vanilla gelato, a chocolate crumble caramel cake and more. Get more details and make reservations at the restaurant's website.
