The New Crew

It helps to have a good family name, and in the case of Madewell 1937, the newest shop at SouthPark mall, the lineage couldn't be better. This little sister to J.Crew caters to a younger, hipper crowd than those who frequent the preppy favorite. The store, which began opening locations around the U.S. in 2006, offers moderately priced women's clothing with a modern vintage twist. For the fall, the new 3,174-square-foot boutique is stocked with trendy styles from scarves and satchels to booties and boyfriend jeans (in a cheeky twist, the store calls them ex-boyfriend jeans).
Madewell is actually known best for its jeans, with a wide variety of denim options featured on what they call the Denim Bar. Still can't find your perfect fit? Not a problem. Madewell staff will size and pin jeans and provide hemming services for $10. No wonder the store caught the eye of stylish women on a budget around the country before its arrival here. Madewell, SouthPark, 704-365-3955.
