Town Brewing to Open Sept. 28

Charlotte’s newest brewery has an official opening date.
It was announced on Monday that Town Brewing will open to the public Friday, September 28. Located at 800 Grandin Road (behind Rhino Market), Town will be the first brewery in a rapidly-developing FreeMoreWest neighborhood (nearby Blue Blaze sits in the West End area, as an FYI).
Construction has been steady over the last several months on the site, which previously was home to Lubromation Inc., an industrial equipment supplier. The brewery was founded by four longtime friends and homebrewers – Mark Kutny, Richard Morton, George Sistrunk and Allen West – but the brewing at Town will be done by Brian Quinn, who was previous experience at Foothills Brewery in Winston-Salem.
When Town opens later this month, expect a diverse lineup including Belgians, kettle sours, IPAs and porters. The brewery will have a 15-barrel system and will also serve cider, housemade sodas, kombucha and wine.
The space itself is roughly 10,500 square feet that includes an outdoor patio that will connect inside the taproom via rollup garage doors. Town will have a menu created by chef Seth Hastings that will be small plate-oriented and incorporates local offerings and seasonal items.
Town will be open six days a week (closed Tuesdays) with the following hours: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday, 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A few weeks after the brewery opens, Town will also have a block party dubbed “Talk of the Town.” This event will take place Saturday, Oct. 13 and incorporate other community activities including a farmer’s market, fitness classes, live music and more. Town will also have a special beer release as part of the festivities.
