The Charlotte beer community is helping out for those like me who have trouble with Christmas shopping. Last weekend, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery held its annual Weihnachtsmarkt (or “Christmas Market), which was a success and now Triple C is putting on “Hops and Shops” at the brewery Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This event is  geared toward men, as local shops The Boulevard, J.T. Posh, Savory Spice Shop, Jewels by Julia and Honee Bee will be represented so you can buy your special lady, sister or mom a Christmas gift or two.

There will also be gift wrapping available (another area where I mightily struggle), with tips donated to Bee Mighty, a nonprofit that aids medical costs and provides resources for families with premature babies.

Of course, Triple C will have plenty of beer available as you’re shopping, and the brewery also now has bottles for sale of its Bourbon Barrel Aged Up All Night. As part of its pilot series, Triple C will have a ginger saison on tap as well. If you want to grab a bite to eat, Papi Queso will be on site.

On the same subject, if you haven’t yet, check out Home + Garden’s (a sister publication of Charlotte Magazine) latest article about how home brewers and local breweries are growing their own hops. It features Triple C, which grows its own hops on site, along with local home brewer and friend John Mays. It’s an informative piece, and I wonder if we’ll see more of this as the Charlotte beer scene continues to grow.
