FRIDAY (JUL 8)
WATERMELON DAY AT CHARLOTTE REGIONAL FARMERS MARKET
Today is watermelon day at the city's largest farmer's market. Enjoy free watermelon samples from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, pick up recipes for this high summer fruit, and enjoy live bluegrass music from Baker's Basement Band. This family-friendly event is free to attend.
FRIDAY (JUL 8)
FOOD TRUCK FRIDAY AT PLAZA-MIDWOOD
Purchase your favorite street foods during this weekly food truck rally, held behind The Light Factory on Central Avenue. Nine food trucks will be in attendance this week, including Sticks and Cones, Street Spice, and Bebo's Mac Shack. This event is dog-friendly and kid-friendly.
SATURDAY (JUL 9)
The Brothers Vigalys visit from Durham this weekend, joining Bob Peters for his July Mixology Lab, one of several cocktail classes this summer that is focused on local producers. The two brothers make liqueurs at their distillery, including a spiced honey liqueur called Krupnikas. Seats for this free class fill up fast, so arrive early.
MONDAY (JUL 11)
Spaces are still available for a special dinner at Reid's Myers Park location, featuring pours from one of the state's best-known breweries. Seating is limited for this five-course dinner with pairings; call to reserve.
TUESDAY (JUL 12)
HEIRLOOM TOMATO DINNER AT THE ASBURY
Spots are still available for the next installment of The Asbury's Collaborative Dinner Series. Special guest Miriam Rubin, chef and author of UNC Press's Tomatoes, will join Chef Matthew Krenz in the kitchen for this five course dinner that features a Southern summertime favorite.
LOOKING AHEAD
Queen's Feast, also known as Charlotte Restaurant Week, returns for its summer edition July 22 – 31. View a list of participating restaurants online and make your reservations now for this event, where guests can enjoy prix fixe menus of three courses or more at dinner for $30 or $35 (not including tax and gratuity). Thus far, 134 restaurants have signed up to participate in the city-wide event.
SUNDAY (JUL 31)
UNDERGROUND KITCHEN: COCINA TOSCANA
This pop-up dinner concept makes its return to Charlotte for its second event at the end of the month. The event, billed as a UGK: Dine event, will be held at a restaurant that is usually closed on that day of the week.
