Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest this Weekend

The Second Annual Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest takes place this Friday and Saturday, June 24-25, at NC Music Factory. This is your opportunity to see a great lineup of jazz musicians at two distinct venues.
In its second year, the Uptown Charlotte Jazz Fest has expanded to two days. Friday’s show, billed as “In the Spotlight,” takes place at The Fillmore Charlotte at 8:30 p.m. While Saturday’s concert is “Under the Stars” at Time Warner Cable Uptown Amphitheatre beginning at 6:30 p.m. Both venues are located at NC Music Factory, and you can make an entire evening/night of it by visiting NCMF restaurants Bask on Seaboard, The Saloon, or Mattie’s Diner for dinner beforehand (or after), as well as bars like Wet Willie’s and VBGB Beer Hall & Garden.
Performing Friday is legendary jazz vocalist/songwriter Michael Franks along with keyboardist Marcus Johnson. Saturday’s show stars DMS, which includes George Duke, Marcus Miller, and David Sanborn, along with saxophonist Gerald Albright and The Jeff Lorber Fusion.
Individual tickets range from $38 to $52 for Friday’s show, and $33 to $58 for Saturday. If you purchase your tickets online through Live Nation, you’ll be charged fees of up to $14 per ticket. Do yourself a favor and buy them in person at The Fillmore Charlotte Box Office and you won’t be charged the service fees. VIP packages, which include entry both nights, are also available.
