Weekend Ahead: Alexander Scott Soft Opening

Alexander Scott

If you’ve driven by the old McColl Center for Fine Art on East Boulevard over the past few months, you’ve seen a change taking over this space. Now, you can see that change on the inside. Alexander Scott, a home interiors outpost that will be home to a host of vendors displaying décor goods in a series of sections divided around the two-story store, will open its doors today for a “soft opening.” The official, grand opening will take place on September 17.

Owners David Newcombe and Rusty Griffith, whose mission is to “Provide the extraordinary,” have taken careful measure to select each of the more than 70 vendors who, among them, will include: Robin Lavecchia, Bob Buttermore and Carole Smyth.

In the store, which maintains its former gallery feel with lighting, you’ll find home furnishings, linens, gifts and accessories that mix old and new — think: European oil paintings and antique desks in one nook, and modern, faux leather chests and mirror panels in another.

Stop by 208 East Blvd today, from 10 a.m. -6 p.m., and Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. until the grand opening.
