Weekend Ahead: May 7-10

WATCH… and SIP
Now this is our kind of event. Candy from the Candy and Potter Show is hosting 107.9 The Link’s A Taste for Fashion tonight at Morrison (corner of Sharon and Colony Roads in Southpark). The event goes from 6 to 9 p.m. and features models showing off fashions from Morrison shops Scout & Molly’s and B. D. Jeffries. And, if fashion wasn’t enough to get you out this evening, there will be wine and beer available with proceeds benefiting The Western NC Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Style? Check. Wine? Check. A good cause? Check. Yeah, this one’s a no-brainer. www.10769thelink.com

BE FITTED
Here’s an interesting fact: 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong bra size. Here’s another interesting one: Neiman Marcus at SouthPark is hosting a Fit for the Cure event this Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during which for every woman who gets a bra fitting, Wacoal will donate $2 to Komen for the Cure for breast cancer research and outreach programs. Plus, they’ll donate another $2 for every Wacoal bra or shapewear piece you purchase. New bra and money towards a good cause? That feels nice. www.neimanmarcus.com

RUN… or WALK
Somehow Sarah has been talked into running on Friday evening in the Right Moves for Youth Twilight 5K that takes place in Uptown Charlotte. That said, I hope that you have enjoyed reading this blog because the chance of me surviving a 5K run is slim to none and so probably tomorrow will be my last entry. Thanks for reading. In case you’re more physically fit than me… or maybe want to make me feel better about my struggle tomorrow night… or maybe just want to help out with Right Moves for Youth (an organization that helps local students), you can sign up online until midnight tonight. Check out all the race details on Right Moves for Youth’s website.

EAT and DRINK
If Sarah survives the 5K, then she’ll be rewarding herself for said survival at the Beer, Bourbon & BBQ festival at Symphony Park at SouthPark on Saturday afternoon. 60 beers, 40 bourbons, and lots of ’cue. Yeah, that’s a little more up my alley. In addition to all the “b”s the festival includes cornhole, carnival games, contests, a cigar tent, and even a mechanical bull. Concerned about the weather? Don’t be. It’s all under tents. Check out the Beer and Bourbon site for more information.

SHOP

It’s spring. Why does life always seem busier this time of year? Maybe it’s the warm weather, but I swear it feels like every social and professional connection I have decided the month of May was definitely the best time to host events. (Not that I’m complaining. I enjoy a night out as much as the next girl.) However, little details like, oh, Mother’s Day always seem to sneak up on me. Conveniently, right now, at The Pink Hanger, you can take care of that little problem and buy your mother something fabulous… and here’s the best part: when you by a gift worth $50 or more, you can pick out a free pair of earrings for yourself from the store. Earrings that would be perfect for one of those aforementioned things filling up your social calendar. See how nicely this works out? www.pinkhangeronline.com
