Weekend Ahead: November 6-9

Mingle with local artists and hipsters, enjoy a glass of wine, and take in this ridiculously nice late fall weather at the NoDa Gallery Crawl on Friday night. Held every first and third Friday each month, these evenings give you the chance to experience the sights and sounds of Historic North Charlotte’s Arts District. This Friday make sure to check out the free show by North Carolina musician Brett Harris (above), at 8 p.m. at the Evening Muse. www.noda.org

(And mingle with Charlotte’s future community leaders) at The Young Affiliates of the Mint annual Black & White Gala. The Thursday night party benefits the Mint Museum’s programs for children and includes food from Cosmos, an open bar, and live entertainment. The event runs from 7 to 11 p.m., but your wristband offers you free admission to Suite, BlackFinn, and Whisky River so you can continue your evening late night at EpiCentre. It’s $50 for members of the Young Affiliates and $65 for non members, and will be held at The Forum. Hurry and buy your tickets now though as sales end at 2 p.m. today! www.youngaffiliates.org

You know you’ve always wished just a little bit that you were James Bond… or at the very least, one of his lovely ladies (hello, I would give my right arm to be Halle Berry in Die Another Day—or at least to look like her in an orange bikini). Well, now is your chance. The Bond Evening, presented by Belvedere vodka, is in a luxury villa (of course) in The Palisades at Lake Wylie. The evening celebrates the release of the new 007 film Quantum of Solace and benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters. And, best of all? The dress code is strictly Bond-style. That means gowns or cocktail attire for the ladies and tuxedos or suits for the men. To buy your “Bond Passport” go to www.thebondevening.com or to the Dilworth or Phillips Place LOTUS locations. This is advance tickets only, so buy them now.

Nicole Atkins, a one time Charlotte resident, now famed singer and songwriter, will be at the Neighborhood Theater performing songs from her popular album, Neptune City. Truth be told, we know her more from her Old Navy commercial tunes than any of her full songs that have graced festivals like Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo, but that doesn’t make us any less excited to see her perform. Tickets are $12. www.neighborhoodtheatre.com
