Wine at the Ritz

Uptown’s Ritz-Carlton is hosting two pretty swanky wine events next month. These kick off a series of wine programs through the hotel’s new Urban Sip wine bar. Below are the events:

Cakebread Wine Dinner

When: Tuesday, April 12th at 6:30 p.m.

What: The evening starts at the 6:30 reception at Urban Sip. After the reception, guests head over to The Urban Garden Bridge at 7 p.m. for dinner, created by the Ritz’ executive chef Jon Farace. Dennis Cakebread of Cakebread Cellars will be there to chat about the evening’s drinks and his winery. Five different Cakebread wines will be served and will be accompanied by dishes like seared crab cakes with mango coulis and Vidalia onion-crusted filet mignon.

How Much: $125 per person (includes autographed copy of The Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Cookbook).

Reservations: 704.547.2244

Riedel Wine Tasting

When: Tuesday, April 19th at 6:30 p.m.

What: Yes, there will be great wines served at this Urban Sip reception and wine tasting, but the stemware is the focus here. Presented by Riedel, The Wine Glass Company, this event includes a team of experts from Riedel, as well as George Riedel himself, all showing how your favorite wines can become even better in the right glass. Some of the wines set to be included (the list is still tentative) are a 2009 Illahe Vineyards Riesling and a 2007 Burly Napa Vally Cabernet Sauvignon.

How Much: $75 per person (includes a four-piece Riedel glassware gift)

Reservations: 704.547.2244
