Designer Spotlight: Eye Heart Stationery

One freelance designer–and advocate for beautiful affordable things, began a line of whimsical wedding stationery fit for anything from the rustic affair to the black tie soiree, and we are currently swooning over it. Katelyn Applegate, designer of Eye Heart Stationery, had a few things in mind when it came to her motivation for the brand. “I’ve found that one of the biggest issues the modern bride faces is cost,” she explains. “I wanted to create a site where clients could have an array of choices when it comes to design and printing style.” Cost aside, Applegate was right on target with one 'I do'-related trend: DIY. A cornerstone to her concept, her print-it-yourself option is an unsurprisingly big hit. "The great part is that brides don't have to forfeit customization or quality of the design–they just have to print the product," Applegate says. And of course she offers the ultimate luxury in paper as well: A screen printing option (in which inks are mixed by hand) makes for stunningly vibrant stationery. Running the gamut in both design and price, she also gives the option of digital prints. With a youthful eye and fresh design perspective, Applegate offers a modern interpretation of vintage influences in her work. From 1920s film strips to exotic chinoiserie, it’s clear she is in constant pursuit of inspiration in every corner of the world. And no doubt her southern roots are reason for several low country motifs ideal for the southern belle. This design devotee also curates a photo-based blog full of pretty little things made to inspire her brides to-be. Clichés aside, we'll just go ahead and say it: we heart Eye Heart Stationery.
