Alex Myrick Shuts Table

We caught wind of this yesterday, but today the news became official: Alex Myrick, a former Charlotte mag ROY (that's Restaurateur of the Year), has closed Table, his fine dining venture in Ballantyne. Offical release after the jump:

Table Restaurant & Bar is closed for business as of Monday, May 19, 2008. Table is on the market for sale.All interested and qualified parties can contact info@tablecharlotte.com and request information.

Alex Myrick, Table Restaurant's majority owner, says, "We are grateful for the support we have received over the past two years and are satisfied with knowing that we exhausted all efforts to remain open.While there are a multitude of reasons businesses do not succeed, our decision was purely economic and will allow us to concentrate our efforts on other ventures.We opened and operated a first class, high quality fine dining restaurant a couple of years too soon for the area.This has not been an easy decision and will not be an easy process, but is necessary"

Myrick also owns Blue Restaurant and Bar in the Uptown area of Charlotte.He says that sales at Blue remain strong and continue to grow.Blue will be hosting the most popular events held at Table including specialty dinners and cooking classes.Executive Chef Gene Briggs is considering adding some of the favorite Table items to the menu at Blue.Managers Dallas Johnson and Katie Baron have joined the staff at Blue.
