Charlotte Wedding Venue: Green Rice Gallery

Checking out Charlotte's newest wedding venue.
AMY FREE photography
Photographer Amy Free captured these shots last weekend at a surprise wedding held at Green Rice Gallery.

I checked out the Weddings with Green Rice Gallery event yesterday with the fab Anne Markey from Favor Me Events and we had a great time.

Something Classic catering was on hand with samples of soba noodles with peanut sauce and chicken teriyaki served in adorable rice paper boats. Cloud Nine Confections had cupcakes (and even mini cupcakes) for sampling and the coolest Alice-in-Wonderland-looking cake I’ve seen in person. I flipped through the book from Studio K, to see some of their calligraphy work and some very unique and custom-designed invitation suites (their studio is located in the gallery).

I chatted it up C.J. from J. Majors (Friday’s find designer Shea Walker was there, too) and I snapped a few shots of her bride model on-hand in a gorgeous Romona Keveza one-shoulder gown. The lovely ladies from Who’s The Fairest (Kymm, who runs the show, and Mandi who I recently worked with on a photo shoot) were doing make-up and hair styling for brides-to-be in attendance.

Rachel Barker from Millie Holloman Photography spoke with brides but also managed to take photos of the event. And while Pat Lance of Spintastic Sounds was keeping the music going, I was taking pics of all of the g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s florals: a boutonniere, bridesmaid bouquets, center pieces—you name it—by Nectar Floral Designs.

After I’d had about three glasses of Something Classic’s green mint tea, and a quick chat with Erica Stawick from Green Shoes Weddings & Events, Anne and I headed down for brunch at the Crepe Cellar—with mimosas, natch.
