Go for a trial run – Too often we see brides book their stylist without a trial run only to hate their hair on the big day. Most all salons offer trial runs (for a small fee) to give you a feel for what your hair will look like on your wedding day. Make sure to bring plenty of pictures.

Don’t book your appointment too early – If your wedding isn’t until 5 p.m., there’s no need to have your hair ready by 8 a.m. Allow an hour for hair and aim to have it completed a few hours before the ceremony begins to ensure it holds throughout the evening.

Better up than down – If you’re having a summer outdoor wedding in Charlotte, remember that humidity is working against you. Wear your hair up to avoid unwanted frizz and sweat. If you’re set on wearing it down, go for a loose, Bohemian look that can be pulled up if needed.

Compliment your dress – Your hair and dress should be a cohesive look. If you’re having a formal indoor wedding, consider a formal up-do. If you’re having a casual barn wedding, think cascading curls accented with a floral piece. Show your stylist pictures of your dress. If you have an elaborate, beaded neckline don’t let your hair compete with it.

Stick with what you know – If you’ve had long hair since you were a girl, now is not the time to try out a new pixie cut (even though we know you’d rock it). Have your hair trimmed a month before your wedding and get a touch up on color, but don’t make any drastic decisions that alter your entire look.
