A state of emergency was declared in Charlotte and Mecklenburg county hours before the second night of protests in reaction to the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Below, take a look inside another intense night of demonstrations through the lens of photographer Logan Cyrus.
Some attendees at Saturday’s demonstrations were there to warn young protesters against dangerous behavior. This was the case of the pair shown.
At least eight arrests were made by 1 a.m.
Much of the day’s protesting was concentrated in uptown.
Demonstrators also took to I-277 during the evening.
CMPD implemented teargas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds later into the night.
