Lattes and Local Art at FABO

Chris Edwards

FABO, a cozy, refreshingly non-Caribou addition to the Q.C.’s coffee shop scene, opened recently in Tranquil Court in Myers Park. The new shop is outfitted with funky armchairs, a full espresso bar, a gorgeous pastry case, and walls decorated with local art for sale. Owner Amy Aussieker, who headed FABO’s Elizabeth location for months before moving it to Selwyn Avenue, has stocked the shop with affordable, one-of-a-kind art pieces such as beaded necklaces, watercolor paintings, and glazed bowls. But of course, this is the season for warm drinks and scrumptious desserts, so we think you’ll be especially happy to browse the art with a warm cup of one of FABO’s house coffee drinks, like a café mocha or caramel macchiato. And should you need a little nourishment after a full day of gift shopping and waiting in line for the mall Santa, the shop sells some of Charlotte’s most delicious desserts, including Boston cream cupcakes and cream cheese brownies from Tizzerts, as well as muffins and scones from Edible Art—the perfect boost for deflated holiday spirits.
