Owners of Banner Elk's Artisanal to Open New SouthPark Restaurant

The Banner Elk restaurant Artisanal has garnered a reputation nationally over the past decade, and now, details have emerged over its owners’ new SouthPark concept. Peppervine, with opening eyed for January 2019, will be a high-end spot with a “progressive American” menu. Artisanal comes from the husband-and-wife team of Chef Bill and Anita Greene. For this Charlotte project, they're working with Robert and Robb Lackey of Imagine One, which is behind several businesses (like Hickory restaurant Café Rule).

Promised menu items include Pimento Cheese Scones with pepper jelly and sorghum butter, Smoked Pekin Duck Breast with eggplant, shishito, and umeboshi, Squid Ink Bucatini with charred octopus, saffron-tomato, bone marrow, and vinegar kale, and Alaskan King Crab accompanied by yuzu butter, smoked pineapple kimchi, and king trumpet mushrooms. A robust drink menu is also in tow, with staff sommeliers and cocktails.

Currently, eight spots from our 2018 50 Best Restaurants list come from the SouthPark neighborhood. This Peppervine news follows a recent announcement from neighboring spot Upstream, which named its new chef.
