Postscript: Lynn-Anne Burns

Designer Lynn-Anne Burns shares the story behind one of her favorite pieces of art
Chris Edwards

“I adore this piece and wouldn’t be without it because it’s a singularly American interpretation (an on-the-spot, quickly done, pen-and-watercolor illustration by John Groth for publication in Sports Illustrated in the early 1950s) of a very Scottish ‘sport’—tossing the caber at the Highland Games. It’s something that I watched, amazed, every summer of my childhood in Scotland. It takes me home, in a little way, every time I look at it.”
