A Charlotte resident’s bulldog paintings capture her beloved pets’ personalities
LOGAN CYRUS

“The dog paintings [by Columbia, S.C. artist Heather LaHaise] have meaning to me because they help keep the memories of my bulldogs alive. The smaller dog painting that I have of our current bulldog, [Agnes], a friend gave it to me as a wedding gift. And then the other painting of my bulldog [Mortimer] was commissioned after he passed away. I wanted a memento of him. [LaHaise] captured him just so perfectly. There’s just no doubt it’s him and exactly him. We used to have a lot of framed photographs of our bulldogs. Now the paintings are my real tribute.”
