Invention Nation
Nearly every invention began as an inspired idea cooked up by a creative dreamer. And with August being National Inventors Month, we thought it'd be a good time to look at what's being invented right here in Charlotte.
Pressix Trashcan
It's simple, really: it's a trash can that holds bags securely in place without slipping or ripping.
Why It's Cool: Inventor Franklin Ramsey came up with the idea while helping his wife with her janitorial business.
Where To Get It: Available at The Container Store and Wal-Mart. Prices range from $129 to $179 depending on the size.
Workout 180
It's a personal gym that combines strength, cardio, and stability training all in one compact piece of equipment.
Why It's Cool: It boasts seventy-five different exercises with four-plus levels of resistance.
Where To Get It: Available online at workout180gym.com for $199.99.
360 Mailbox
The mailbox is mounted on a rotating base, which swivels 360 degrees and locks into four different positions.
Why It's Cool: The 360 allows users to check mail from the yard and away from busy street traffic and then swivel the mailbox back to the receive position.
Where To Get It: Call Cleve Smith at 704-868-3772.
Port-a-Scoop
This veterinarian-designed pooper-scooper is made of sturdy and lightweight plastic, making it durable enough for any big scoop job.
Why It's Cool: It has a built-in replaceable flashlight for nocturnal scooping and a sporty belt clip for hands-free carrying.
Where To Get It: From $17.99-$26.99, it's expected to be in stores, including Petco and PetSmart, later this year.
