Love It: Earth Day Couture by Adele Wechsler

A few weeks ago I blogged about the cushy new title of "Mother Nature" that had just been filled at The Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte. While completing her duties as an ambassador of green education, Mother Nature gets to wear a gorgeous custom-designed gown from eco-friendly wedding gown designer Adele Wechsler. Well, yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing that ethereal drawing come to life – not only on Mother Nature, but in the form of a wedding gown Adele introduced at the recent New York Bridal Market after being inspired by her design for the Ritz.  Even better, Adele herself was on hand to present the gowns and give me the skinny on their gorgeous green construction.

The dresses (both bridal and Mother Nature’s green and pink version) are made from organic hemp silk and silk chiffon – and all of her gowns are handmade in Toronto using fairtrade labor. "I felt that it should be organic – floral, leafy – or something that really said ‘Mother Nature,’ " said Adele of her designs.  

Adele is pairing up with Aveda stores across the country to do a summer tour to promote green wedding vendors in different cities – let’s hope she stops back in Charlotte again soon!
