Now Open: Divine Cupcakes and Yogurt Cafe

It seems like every time you turn around in Charlotte there’s another cupcake spot. Or another frozen yogurt shop. So, when Divine Cupcakes and Yogurt Cafe opened in Dilworth I thought they’d done an excellent job capitalizing on the city’s sweets trends and then I didn’t think much else about it.
Until a friend brought me one of the cafe’s pumpkin chocolate chip cupcakes.
It was amazing: Fluffy cake filled with chunks of sweet pumpkin batter and milky chocolate, topped in a light cream cheese frosting and rich chocolate chips. These cupcakes are the perfect size—not over-sized like some—and they’re made fresh daily. But, while cupcakes may be the best reason to visit the Latta Pavilion shop, there are plenty of other great reasons as well. Here are five of them:
1. They have creamy, low-fat frozen yogurt in interesting flavors like ginger or tangerine. They offer four flavors daily and it rotates, so check the Web site to see what’s available. On all days though you’ll find the toppings bar with more than twenty toppings for sprinkling on your fro-yo.
2. They serve breakfast. The cafe offers items like muffins, oatmeal, coffee, and tea. And if you’ve ever tried to get a parking space at the Starbucks just down the street, you’ll know that this is a much better option for your morning cup of joe.
3. They offer pupcakes. As in cupcakes for your dog. As in precious little treats to take home to Fluffy. How can you possibly resist that?
4. Every weekday at 2:30 p.m., kids get a free mini cupcake to enjoy while they gather around to be read a fairy tale. It’s called Fairy Tale Hour and it’s adorable.
5. The cafe is open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights (and midnight every other night). Because cupcake cravings aren’t limited to normal work hours.
Divine Cupcakes and Yogurt Cafe is located at 1315 East Blvd. and can be reached at 704.909.7067.
