Real Wedding: Kristen & Hunter
May 15, 2010 The Point Lake and Golf Club

When Hunter Lunsford, a retail bond trader for LPL Financial, moved to Charlotte in 2005, his intentions were to play the field. “So naturally, I fell for the first girl I take out on a couple dates!” he laughs. A proposal came three years later, and for the couple’s wedding site, they quickly settled on the Point Lake and Golf Club in Mooresville. “The Point was the only venue we looked at,” says Kristen Melrose, a risk and control analyst for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. “It had everything we wanted.”
The Rev. Rebecca Nagy led the heartfelt nuptials on the Point’s covered veranda. The groom, twenty-nine, kept his look traditional in a tux from Penguins, while the bride, twenty-eight, looked radiant in a Modern Trousseau gown purchased at Hayden Olivia Bridal.
After the ceremony, the 151 guests moved to the Point’s dining room for a formal reception featuring Chilean snapper and herb-crusted chicken, plus a candy station and a cigar bar. “I grew up smoking cigars with my dad on our back porch,” Kristen explains. An almond-flavored cake by The Point’s in-house pastry chef added another sweet touch, and live band In the Pocket kept the dance floor hopping.
