Stephanie Flury and Peter Kelsey expected 70 degrees and cherry blossoms for their springtime wedding in Greenville, South Carolina. “What we got was a monsoon,” Stephanie says. But they found the silver lining.

Instead of the outdoor ceremony the couple had planned, the staff at Larkin’s on the River moved the entire celebration to the Wyche Pavilion’s loft area, which added an inviting intimacy and romance to such a chilly night. Stephanie and her father entered to “You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne, for a personalized, traditional ceremony performed by the couple’s pastor. Peter’s sister did the reading.

“It’ll never happen again that we have all these different people from our lives in the same room celebrating us,” Stephanie says. “It was very humbling and sweet.”

After cocktail hour, featuring Larkin’s signature shrimp and grits, and a seated dinner, ProsOnly Entertainment opened the floor for dancing to Sister Hazel’s “Everything Else Disappears.” When the rain stopped, the newlyweds snuck out for an intimate dance in the pavilion. They departed under a gauntlet of sparklers to a horse-drawn carriage from Whispering Winds Carriage Company—then they were off to their wine-tasting honeymoon in Napa.
