WHY GO IN JUNE It's not the Atlantic City you remember, that's for sure. Forget senior citizens and slot-aholics—A.C.'s been beefed up big time. Celebrity chef eateries (Bobby Flay, Wolfgang Puck), serious upscale shopping (Michael Kors, anyone?), and major headliner acts have made this once dreary city swanky.

Reason No. 1 to Go Back: The Pier at Caesars Palace (Caesars Atlantic City, 2100 Pacific Ave., 866-609-PIER, www.thepieratcaesars.com ). Gucci? Check. Louis Vuitton? Check. Betsey Johnson, Coach, Burberry? Check, check, check. Ample room in your suitcase to pack all your new treasures? Hmm.
Reason No. 2 to Go Back: The Borgata’s Spa Toccare (One Borgata Way, 609-317-7555, www.theborgata.com ). It’ll be your new best friend, promise. A must try: 100 minutes of the Borgata Bliss treatment ($275). A full-body scrub + hydrotherapy bath + Swedish massage = the highlight of your visit. Self-pampering was never so amazing. Couples’ treatments also available.
Reason No. 3 to Go Back: The Nightlife. An overnight stay at the Showboat at Harrah’s (801 Boardwalk Hall, 609-343-4000, www.showboatatlanticcity.com , $369) instantly raises anybody’s coolness level. Start at the House of Blues, which has a solid rep for eclectic concert lineups with acts like Wyclef Jean and Ani DiFranco. Finish (or continue) the night with some postconcert drinks at the nearby Foundation Room.
