Who Brother-sister co-owner duo Jonathan Kauffman and Katy Boak recently moved their South End-based studio Barn Wood Classics Furniture Gallery to a new location (where Maypole Antiques-turned-Rococo was). The nearly two-year-old shop sells handcrafted, hand-finished furniture made from wood salvaged from barns, mills, and bridges, often more than 200 years old.
Vibe An array of tables, chairs, and other classic wood furniture is arranged in the minimally yet classically decorated gallery area. Look down: the flooring is custom yellow pine created by Kauffman and Boak, who also offer three lines of hardwood flooring.
Spend Order a round sixty-inch farm table, ($1,879), which pairs well with a popular birdcage chair in solid cherry (armchair $345, side-chair $319). Or go custom—Barn Wood can design pieces such as hutches, benches, or even bars.
