Before + After: Myers Park Cottage Becomes Brighter
A Myers Park cottage was filled with family heirlooms, but these dark-stained wood pieces gave the downstairs rooms an equally dim feel. So, the client hired House of Nomad (HON) to brighten it up. According to Berkeley Minkhorst and Kelley Lentini—the designers and HON owners—the home exhibited the lackluster combo of "beige-on-beige."

To revamp the home, Minkhorst and Lentini helped the client decide which pieces to keep and which ones to replace. The dining room table was one of the "keepers"—it had been passed down for several generations. However, to brighten up and modernize the set, the designing duo recovered the original chairs in an eye-catching chartreuse fabric to soften the look of the dark wood.
In addition, more new pieces were mixed in with the old to create a more welcoming aesthetic. HON gave the entire downstairs space a fresh coat of paint, plus new drapes and custom roman shades. A bunch of blue accents were incorporated as well to brighten the space, with interesting light fixtures completing the project—peek the airy Capiz shell chandelier.
