Beyond Angels: Anne Neilson Fine Art

The artist opens her first gallery in South End

Anne Neilson Fine Art in South End showcases the work of more than 40 artists, including a series of paintings by Ellen Levine Dodd.

Anne Neilson has built a national following for her oil paintings of angels—textured images filled with mystery and grace. But the Charlotte-based artist has never had a permanent space to display her work or that of her peers. This spring, she opened a gallery in South End showcasing more than 40 artists from the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Highlights include sculptures by British artist Paul Day, impressionist paintings by Ken Auster, “and then we’ve got my angels,” Neilson says.

This month, Anne Neilson Fine Art will display the work of local artists, with a portion of sale proceeds benefiting 24 Hours of Booty, a nonprofit that raises funds to fight cancer. Don’t miss the artists’ reception on July 16. 704-652-1906, anneneilsonfineart.com
