Bridal Beauty Tips: Jeffre Scott

Yolanda M. James

I had a quick bridal beauty chat with Jeffre Scott whose eponymous apothecary in Myers Park boasts some of the most coveted beauty lines (read: Mario Bedescu and Natura Bisse). Here are Scott’s tips for brides preparing for their big day.

Schedule a few facials.

"To get your skin in great condition and make it look its absolute best, get two or three facials prior to the wedding," says Scott. "Be sure they are hydrating, cleansing, and calming and nothing too aggressive." Facial and spa services are available by appointment at at Jeffre Scott.

Hire a professional make-up artist.

"A trial run with your make-up artist is key so that you know that the both of you are on the same page with the look you want to achieve," says Scott. Other bridal beauty experts in Charlotte like Heather Bryson from The Look, Kymm from Who’s the Fairest, and Samantha Alexandra typically book fast so it’s a good idea to go ahead and meet with them as soon as you can.

Pick your products.

Scott suggests the use of lightweight make-up primers (his favorite is Alison Raffaele) paired with a mineral foundation. "Your skin will breathe easily and you’ll have a natural-looking finish."

Easy on the eyes.

"Lighten up on the lower liner and mascara until after your ceremony," says Scott. "Tears can be a heavy liner and mascara’s worst friend," Add these before photos and the reception."

Shape up.

Scott also suggests brow shaping a few days prior to the wedding. The right brow shape and arch can make a huge difference in your look, he says. Other Charlotte brow specialists include Brow Uptown, Benefit Brow Bar (at Belk in SouthPark mall), and Beautiful Brows. Almost any salon or spa typically offers this service.
