By Design: The Spoke Easy

“It’s like a reverse mullet. It’s a bicycle party up front and design business in the back,” says Kevin Kennedy, owner of The Spoke Easy and Cluck Design Collaborative.

THE SPOKE EASY is a customized bike shop that offers the reward of a good brew after a hard workout. The do-everything store on Elizabeth Avenue relocated from South End in November. It now offers a group bike ride on Thursdays and yoga classes on Wednesdays. And every day except Sunday, while bikes are made to order in the adjacent workshop, a wooden bar serves local beers on tap starting at 3 p.m. For those seeking help with the design of a home, Cluck Design Collaborative, an architecture firm that shares an owner with The Spoke Easy, is in the back—completing the circle of business and creativity under one roof.
