Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit Coming to Charlotte

COURTESY RENDERING

HOT LITTLE BISCUITS are coming to South End, and now customers can enjoy the rich, buttery confections for breakfast, lunch, or a late-night treat.

Charleston-based Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit will open in a 1,350-square foot space at The Penrose, a new 350-unit luxury multifamily community on Tremont Avenue. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2019, the grab-and-go eatery is an offshoot of Callie’s Charleston Biscuits, a line of handmade biscuits and Southern pantry staples based in Charleston, S.C.

Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit currently has two locations in Charleston and one in Atlanta. Since opening in 2005, owner Carrie Morey has caught the attention of Food & Wine, The New York Times, and even Oprah. Her newest spot will serve a variety of hot biscuits in flavors like country ham, cheese & chive, cinnamon, and classic buttermilk. Breakfast sandwiches include fried chicken, bacon egg & cheese, and roasted tomato BLT, and the signature biscuit bowl comes filled with slow cooked grits. Or guests can built their own biscuit with toppings like chopped bacon, Carolina honey, and homemade jam. A coffee bar featuring King Bean Coffee is also planned for the Charlotte location.

The full lunch menu features homemade soups and fresh salads, as well as Callie’s cocoa and cream cookies. The store also has retail space where customers can stock up on Callie’s frozen biscuits, pimento cheese, and other gourmet pantry items.

Located within walking distance of the Rail Trail and South End’s best dining and shopping, The Penrose includes 2,500 square feet of street-level retail. Stay tuned for news of more tenants and openings in the coming months.
