Charity of the Day: Second Harvest Food Bank

120,000 people in Mecklenburg Country live at or below the Federal Poverty Level - $22,050 for a family of four. Second Harvest supplies food and essential grocery items to over 600 agencies feeding hungry people in 19 counties. —Rachel Clapp, WCNC

Here's how you can help:

 

$10 WILL PROVIDE: 60 pounds of food to help feed those who are hungry in our region
$25 WILL PROVIDE: 150 pounds of food to help feed those who are hungry in our region -100 meals for kids at risk of hunger
$100 WILL PROVIDE: 600 pounds of food to help feed those who are hungry in our region -10 Second Helping boxes to homebound seniors at risk of hunger – these boxes contain approximately $40 worth of food
$500 WILL PROVIDE: 3,000 pounds of food to help feed those who are hungry in our region – 2,000 meals for kids at risk of hunger at our Kids Café sites -50 Second Helping boxes to homebound seniors at risk of hunger – these boxes contain approximately $40 worth of food -160 filled backpacks of food for children at risk of hunger on weekends and holidays when school meals are not available
