Charlotte Wedding Venue: McGill Rose Garden

Melissa G. Lamkin
The McGill Rose Garden is a great outdoor wedding venue for brides looking for something outside yet near uptown.

Brides looking for a gorgeous, earthy, and natural event location (think Daniel Stowe but on a smaller scale) should make a point to check out The McGill Rose Garden. I visited the Wedding Showcase the venue held yesterday and was completely charmed by the beautiful day and outdoor venue with loads of possibilities.

The most popular ceremony location, located in the front of the garden near the gallery, will seat 80 guests for an intimate, outdoor ceremony or reception; or approximately 100 persons standing. (For inclement weather, the space is tentable.)

Rental packages range from $800 to $1,600 and include an on-site day-of coordinator, serving stations, and chair rentals. The garden also has cafe and picnic tables as well as benches that are considered fixtures of the garden but are available for event use. Additional items like candles, lanterns, buffet tables, podiums, and lights are available through the venue’s a la carte menu, which also offers a rose dedication to honor your special day or friends or family that couldn’t be in attendance for your event.

If you’re just searching for a pretty outdoor spot for your bridal portraits, the garden is available for private rental for bridal portrait sessions, too.

At the event, I met a whole host of new vendors like Lady Jayne Bakery, In Ten Years, Soiree Planning, Simply Beautiful Makeup Artistry, Sara Mellander Photography, violinist Kathy Jarrell, D.J. Nando, and Studio K along with seeing the familiar faces behind Something Classic Catering, Classic Party Rentals, E.G. Couture, and Nectar florals (whose floral designs I constantly ooh and awe over).

The McGill Rose Garden is located on North Davidson between Uptown and NoDa. 940 North Davidson Street, 704-333-6497, mcgillrosegarden.org.
