Charlotte's Eva Noblezada Gets Second Tony Nomination

Charlotte’s own Eva Noblezada has garnered her second Tony Award nomination. The one-time Northwest School of the Arts student took the lead role of Eurydice in Hadestown in 2018 for its Royal National Theatre production. The musical then moved to Broadway this month. Noblezada was previously nominated for her lead role in a revival of Miss Saigon in 2017, which had made a similar move from London’s West End to New York City.
We talked to Noblezada in 2016, when the announcement of Miss Saigon's latest Broadway run had arrived. She told us then, “Broadway has really opened the doors for new and exciting plays—and also in terms of ethnicity. Being a half-Mexican, half-Filipino actor, this is a special time to be headed to Broadway. Ten years ago, it would have been harder to find these types of roles. I’m honored to find a role in someone like Kim in Miss Saigon.”
The 73rd-annual Tony Awards, hosted by James Corden, air on CBS on June 9. See her previous Tony Awards ceremony performance here, and read her interview with Charlotte magazine here.
