THE ANNUAL Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament is taking place in Charlotte for the 12th consecutive year, with events scheduled from Monday, February 20 to Sunday, February 26, 2017. The CIAA Tournament includes five days of men’s and women’s college basketball games at Bojangles' Coliseum and Spectrum Center. Social events and parties surrounding the tournament create additional excitement and draw tens of thousands of visitors to the city.

Below is a list of events scheduled for Monday, February 20 to Wednesday, February 22. Please use the website listed for each event to verify information. Advance tickets can be purchased through many of the websites as well.

OnQ Presents Mo' Betta

This original monthly series is an eclectic mix of poetry, dance, film, and comedy with live music orchestrated by OnQ Performing Arts music director Tim Scott Jr. and hosted by artistic director Quentin Talley. 6:30-9 p.m. $10. + *CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments Begin

Several games will be played throughout the day. Women’s: 10 a.m., 12:10, 2:20, and 4:30 p.m.; men’s: 6:40 and 8:50 p.m. New this year: the first two days of the tournament are taking place at Bojangles' Coliseum. All-session passes, $75 and up. Breakfast Conversations

This annual networking event offers small and minority business owners the chance to converse with corporate leaders and elected officials. There will be guest speakers and breakfast served. 8-10:30 a.m. $50 and up. Extravaganza Depot, 1610 N. Tryon St., breakfastconversations.com.

 

CAABJ Media Mixer

Mix and mingle with local and visiting journalists and media professionals. Presented by the Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists (CAABJ). The Happiest Hours 4: Professional Mixer

This event has become an annual tradition for many of Charlotte's social elite. Hosted by Sol Kitchen, Herb and Felicia Gray, Eddietainment and Dre Brown. 6 p.m.-midnight. DJ Kool's RSVP Welcome Party
