CIAA Week 2018 Events: Tuesday, Feb. 27 to Wednesday, Feb. 28

The annual Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament is taking place in Charlotte for the 13th consecutive year, with events scheduled from Tuesday, February 27 to Sunday, March 4, 2018. The CIAA Tournament features 22 men’s and women’s college basketball games across five days at Bojangles' Coliseum and Spectrum Center. Social events and parties surrounding the tournament create additional excitement and draw tens of thousands of visitors to the city.

Tuesday, February 27

*CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments Begin
Several games will be played throughout the day. Women’s: 10 a.m., 12:10, 2:20, and 4:30 p.m.; men’s: 6:40 and 8:50 p.m. All-session passes, $75 and up. Bojangles' Coliseum, 2700 E. Independence Blvd.

Breakfast Conversations
This fourth annual business networking event offers small and minority business owners the chance to converse with corporate leaders and elected officials. There will be guest speakers and breakfast served. 8-10:30 a.m. $65 and up; tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available to be purchased at the door. Extravaganza Depot, 1610 N. Tryon St.

CAABJ Media Mixer
Mix and mingle with local and visiting journalists and media professionals. Presented by the Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists (CAABJ). Proceeds will benefit the organization's college scholarship fund. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free admission for CAABJ and NABJ members; $5 for nonmembers. Aloft Charlotte Uptown Hotel, at EpiCentre, 210 E. Trade St.

Tournament Networking Mixer
Network with tastemakers and trendsetters. Hosted by Power 98's Vonyetta and music from DJ K Spinz. Presented by Socialight Inc., Motivation Marketing, and Black Wall St. CLT. 5:30-8:30 p.m. $5. Firehouse Bar & Lounge, 320 W. Carson Blvd.

Wednesday, February 28

Professionals are invited to experience another memorable social event in this signature series. Music by DJ Skillz. Presented by Charlotte Kappas and Eddietainment. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Free admission before 10 p.m. with RSVP; $10 and up after; VIP tables available. Bubble, at EpiCentre, 210 E. Trade St.

The Warm Up: Tournament Tip-Off Party
Get tournament week started off right with music from DJ Solo, drink specials, and free food (while it lasts). Donations will be accepted for the Sigma Beta Club, a youth mentoring group. Presented by Sigmas of Charlotte. 6 p.m.-1 a.m. Free admission; donations recommended. Morehead Tavern, 300 E. Morehead St.
