CMP Charity of the Day: Community Health Services
Community Health Services' mission is to provide health care for people who can’t afford it. Its services include a free health clinic staffed by a network of volunteer physicians -- if you don’t have insurance you can enroll in the program and see the doctors for free. The United Way cut its funding allocation by 38%, or $182,996. That represents 20% of its whole budget. Because of the funding cut, CHS had to cut its community-based nursing program, which sent nurses out into the field, despite a 40% increase in demand. —Rachel Clapp, WCNC

Here are some ideas about what donations can provide:
$25 will provide eyeglasses for a child struggling in school because of poor vision.
$100 will provide a crib or car seat for a baby of a first-time, low-income mother.
$500 will provide comprehensive healthcare for an uninsured client for one year.
