Divine Invention

At one point or another we’ve all said to ourselves, it would be great if somebody invented so-and-so—that particular thing that would make our lives easier. Imagine what the person who invented the microwave oven must’ve thought, and boy, do we appreciate that. This type of forward thinking and ingenuity is the premise behind Everyday Edisons.

PBS show proves there's an inventor in all of us

At one point or another we’ve all said to ourselves, it would be great if somebody invented so-and-so—that particular thing that would make our lives easier. Imagine what the person who invented the microwave oven must’ve thought, and boy, do we appreciate that. This type of forward thinking and ingenuity is the premise behind Everyday Edisons.

Produced locally by Bouncing Brain Productions, Everyday Edisons premiered nationwide on PBS in late April. This reality show chronicles the journeys of fourteen people (seven from the Charlotte area) attempting to turn their ideas into products. From items moms would love—a three-in-one baby bag and a spill-proof bowl—to things men would cherish—a product that disposes of your chicken wings and a new twist on a carpentry tool—this show highlights just about everything.

The show reveals that these truly are everyday people developing these ideas. Watch them in their living rooms, see their joys and frustrations. No one gets voted off each week. Instead, you see them try and fail, and try and try again. Experts, including people from the United States Patent & Trademark Office, are there to guide them along the way. The final episode will reveal where their inventions end up.

Season one runs through the end of July, airing Sundays at 7:30 p.m. locally on WTVI. For more info visit www.everydayedisons.com .
