Important numbers and links for Charlotte residents

Emergency numbers:

* Call 911 for any life threatening emergency
* For information about emergency shelters and more, call 211 (or 888-892-1162) or the American Red Cross of the Greater Carolinas Region in Charlotte at 704-376-1661 (press 1 for emergencies) or view the Red Cross’ website for up-to-date information about what shelters are open
* To report a power outage call 800-228-8485 or text 57801 to reach Duke Energy
* Call 511 for news on road conditions on the interstate, state, and U.S. routes or dial *HP for the Highway Patrol in emergency scenarios
* For other emergencies (general city information, water emergency, sewer emergency, and environmental concerns) that are not life threatening, call 311
