Film club to screen 'A Screaming Man'
The film focuses on a father who conscripts his son to fight in the killing fields of Chad in order to regain his position at a hotel and show his support for the cause. The Chadian government is fighting rebel forces who wish to take over the small African country. After realizing what he has done the father, played by Youssouf Djaroro, must sneak into the war zone and try to smuggle his son out.
The 2010 film won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for its gripping examination of war and family.
Tickets for the January 26 showing are $8 at the door. The movie will begin at 7 p.m.
Memberships to the Davidson Film Club, which covers the cost of 5 film showings and provides first-choice seating, are $30.
