The pumpkin spice latte at Central Coffee Co. is flavored with house-made vegan syrup and sweetened with agave. The latte art? No extra charge.

The season for hot, caffeinated drinks is upon us—but you don’t have to head to the nearest coffee chain to score a latte with fall flair. Here are three Charlotte coffee shops that serve pumpkin spice goodness in a cup. NoDa standby Smelly Cat Coffeehouse (514 E. 36th St., 704-374-9656) offers a pumpkin spice latte ($3.90) made with your choice of the shop’s house-roasted espresso (medium or dark roast), plus a blend of its house-made vanilla syrup and pumpkin spice syrup. At Central Coffee Co. (719 Louise Ave., 704-335-7288), the pumpkin spice latte ($3.63) is made with employee Lindsey Pitman’s house-made vegan pumpkin syrup, sweetened with agave. If you’re seeking something a bit more decadent, head to Mugs Coffee (5126 Park Rd., 704-733-9014) and order a pumpkin pie espresso milkshake ($3.89), made with fresh espresso and pumpkin pie syrup. If you change your mind and want something warm, you can always get a pumpkin pie latte ($3.14) instead.
