Wendy James is passionate about the environment. Yet the Myers Park mom refuses to sacrifice style for sustainability. Her closet is stocked with organic couture clothes and her wine rack boasts a selection of organic libations—proof that it's possible to be eco savvy and chic.
Now with her new business venture, James is bringing responsible luxury to consumers across the country. Last year, with Dilworth resident Jane Hunter, James launched organicadeluxe.com. Shoppers have been flocking to the online boutique ever since, snapping up green gift items like organic chocolates and luxe leather photo albums made from recycled materials.
The duo's commitment to living responsibly goes beyond their products. The company's gift boxes are made with 75 percent recycled materials. "We even pack products in biodegradable cornstarch peanuts. They're easily composted, unlike Styrofoam," says Hunter.
The boutique is already garnering attention from high-profile Hollywood stars. Jane Seymour and cast members from Grey's Anatomy are fans of the site. And Hunter herself has adopted the Organica Deluxe lifestyle. "Wendy has taught me that I can make a difference with how I spend my dollars," says Hunter. "The manufacturers we work with are naturally and organically minded. We're putting money back in the pockets of people who are thinking beyond themselves."
