Jenny & Brooks

Jenny is an English teacher at Rocky River High School in Mint Hill and Brooks is in advertising with Luquire George Andrews. A sentimentalist, Brooks proposed at the top of Grandfather Mountain with a diamond from his grandfather’s ring.

Jenny Lehman and Brooks Luquire’s greatest desire was for their guests to witness and share in a sacred, intimate experience and to be in the presence of a very real love. Rev. Ollie Rencher allowed the family to stream the ceremony, so that the groom’s mother, who was ill, could watch as her only son married his bride.

Angela Recinella from Planned Perfection helped fulfill the bride’s hopes for “a romantic and candlelit reception with a touch of regal charm.” The garden reception at the VanLandingham Estate paired gold chargers from Party Time Rentals and cream- and blush-colored florals by Springvine Design with glowing lanterns and gold mercury glass votives.

Guests enjoyed specialty craft beer from Free Range Brewing, and the VanLandingham Estate offered a cozy feast of prime rib, chicken, and a macaroni-and-cheese station, the bride’s favorite. Atlanta band The Retreat played a mix of oldies and current hits—with a few indie favorites for Brooks, including “New Life” by Jim James of My Morning Jacket for the first dance. After a white-chocolate and peach cake by Diane Schmitt, the Luquires beat it back to the Omni for the after party, before a mini-honeymoon in New Hampshire and Maine.
