Last Minute Christmas Gifts …

... for the foodie in your life

If you're still scrambling around Charlotte trying to finish up some last minute gift shopping, I am sorry for you. However, if you happen to be scrambling around trying to find the perfect gift for the foodie in your life, you've come to the right place. Here are a few lovely and last minute ideas that the food-obsessed in your life will gobble up — in a good way:

Cookbooks: Ok this may seem incredibly obvious BUT for us foodies, sometimes curling up on the couch with a great cookbook to leaf through for ideas is a gift in and of itself. For us, it's often not so much about following the recipe but, rather, about giving inspiration so we can take off on our own food adventure. Food Network has a huge selection available on their website.

Entertaining books: In the same vein as the cookbooks, a book on party-planning and entertaining is also worth its weight in gold. I recently received a Williams Sonoma entertainment book and it is FABULOUS, even if I'm just looking through the pictures of table/napkin combinations and herbs as centerpieces. Try Crate & Barrel or Williams Sonoma.

Specialty Spice Blends: You've probably seen at a lot of stores selling specially packaged rubs or spice blends for different dishes. These are AWESOME.  They lend themselves well to pasta, meat, fish, etc and save a lot of time/work since we don't have to necessarily trump through the baking aisle to find a rare ingredient. Hint: These make awesome stocking stuffers — try Sur La Table or Stonewall Kitchen.

How-to Book + Equipment: This one needs a little explaining. Do you have someone on your Christmas list who would love to make homemade pizzas (for example) but doesn't have the equipment or know-how? Try getting them something like a pizza stone, pizza cookbook, and pizza cutter. You can apply the same idea to cupcakes, breads, or soups. For this, a one-stop-shop like Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Target would be great.

The foodie universe is a massive one; hopefully this helped narrow down the things we love a little more. Check out my blog coming up on Thursday for ways to repurpose fruitcake.
