New releases from Lenny Boy, NoDa and Unknown; Porters & Pancakes at Good Bottle and more

Head out to Lenny Boy Brewing Co. this Saturday at noon to try CABREW Common, which was brewed in conjunction with members of the Cabarrus Homebrewers Society

Earlier this week, I wrote about Birdsong Brewing’s release of Honey Pie Double IPA (happening today!); here are three other releases to watch for over the next few days from local breweries:

Today (Thursday) at Brawley’s Beverage beginning at 5:30 p.m., you’ll be able to get the first taste of Unknown Brewing’s Dirty Commie Heathen. This Russian Imperial Stout (12.4% ABV) was brewed with bourbon aged oak and red cherries and, looking at Unknown’s Facebook post, will be the brewery’s third bottle release. Look for more on this beer in a future post.

On Friday in the taproom, NoDa will release Midnight Madness, the brewery’s Cascadian dark ale, or black IPA. Midnight Madness is made with six different hops and comes in at 6.75% ABV. It’s a fine beer for these winter months, and after it’s released in the taproom, look for Midnight Madness to hit local bars and restaurants early next week.

Saturday at noon marks the release of CABREW Common at Lenny Boy Brewing Company. This beer was created through a partnership with Lenny Boy and members of the Cabarrus Homebrewers Society (or, CABREW). It features organic hops from a farm in Concord, and Lenny Boy will have two versions of CABREW Common on tap. You can find out more via Daniel Hartis’ post on CharlotteBeer.com.

Also on Saturday is Good Bottle Co.’s latest breakfast, this one titled “Porters and Pancakes.” Beginning at 9 a.m., Roots Farm Food will have mini stacks of three different pancakes: House Smoked Bacon and Maple pancakes with caramelized apple maple syrup, Sweet Potato and Aleppo Pepper pancakes with orange blossom honey syrup and Dark Chocolate and Raspberry pancakes featuring a glaze of Asheville Brewing Company’s Love Ninja Porter.

The beers on tap are as follows:

-Lenny Boy Ground Up Coffee Stout

-Olde Hickory Event Horizon cask aged on Good Bottle Co. coffee beans

-Burial Thresher Coffee Saison

– Asheville Brewing Company’s Love Ninja Porter with raspberries

-Troegs Java Head Coffee Stout

-Duclaw Sweet Baby Jesus

-New Belgium Portage Porter

-Fullsteam Fearrington’s Winter Coffee Pecan Porter

Quick Pours: Triple C announced on Facebook that its next bottle will be Chocolate Covered Pretzel Stout, brewed with cacao nibs and aged in bourbon barrels (Related: Take my money now). Look for this release in late February … Off the heels of a well-received Hoppy Holidays, NoDa Brewing’s second seasonal can will be the popular Hop Cakes, the brewery’s double IPA brewed with maple syrup. No release date yet but stay tuned, as these will go fast. … Don’t forget, tickets are on sale for Queen City Brewers Festival on Jan. 31 and Olde Mecklenburg’s Bourbon Barrel-Aged Fat Boy release Jan. 24.
