Olde Mecklenburg celebrates six-year anniversary Saturday

As we are in the midst of Charlotte Craft Beer Week, it’s fitting that Olde Mecklenburg Brewery has a big date during the same time. OMB was the pioneer that ushered in this local craft beer renaissance we all enjoy nowadays, first opening its doors to the public in 2009 (side note: on this Throwback Thursday, here’s one of Charlotte Magazine’s first articles on the brewery when it opened).
Since then, Olde Mecklenburg has taken Charlotte by storm, bringing its flagship Copper and other great beers to countless bars, restaurants and bottle shops, while also expanding to an 8.5-acre facility that is truly a sight to see.
This Saturday, OMB will celebrate its sixth-year anniversary with an all-day party beginning at noon. As part of the celebration, Olde Mecklenburg is releasing Anniversary Alt. This altbier was first brewed in 2013 and has been a staple of OMB’s anniversary parties ever since. You’ll of course be able to get all your favorite food Olde Mecklenburg offers at the party, and Time Sawyer will be playing from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Olde Mecklenburg is also the site of the first “Dudeapalooza,” which is today (Thursday) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This idea came from Jon Wilson of WCCB’s “Wilson World.” “Dudeapalooza” is essentially a pop-up market featuring more than 25 local vendors offering vintage and locally-crafted items. The Grid Goodwill will also be accepting electronic donations during the event. Also expect giveaways, and yes, “Dudeapalooza” will of course have the NCAA Tournament games on this evening.
