Opinion: All You Need to Know From the McCrory-Cooper Debate
It wasn't a single-issue debate, but this matters most
The gubernatorial debate just ended. What’s reflected above is all you need to know. It’s incredible, I realize, to say that after a robust joust on jobs, the Affordable Care Act, emergency response, voter ID, Black Lives Matter, police video, public education, the condition of the state crime lab, and, of course, HB2.
Important issues, all. Worth discussing in detail at some other time. But for now, know that the governor of North Carolina refuses to withdraw his endorsement of a man who threatens American democracy itself, and that, under these circumstances, is all that matters.
