Real Wedding: Ashley & Brian

May 4, 2013: The Farm at Brusharbor, Mount Pleasant, NC

The bride is a surgical technician at Rowan Regional Medical Center, and the groom is a utility services supervisor for the city of Concord.

The Farm at Brusharbor, just outside of Charlotte, offered the perfect antique country wedding for laid-back high school friends Ashley Pigford and Brian Taylor—a mixture of boots, lace, and wildflowers. The bride knew her style and found her slim-line Allure wedding gown at New York Bride & Groom, featuring ivory lace over charmeuse satin with a low sweetheart neckline and keyhole back, sweeping into a dramatic short train. She wore a lace veil tucked into her chignon, styled by CC & Company Salon & Spa in Concord, and nude wedges by Aldo. Her bridesmaids chose from four neutral colors and flattering styles, all in full-length chiffon. Brian and his groomsmen wore khaki tuxedos without the jackets—with pink ties for the groomsmen and a white striped tie and white-on-white polka dot vest for the groom—with rolled up sleeves and workboots, “just to make it more fun,” says Brian.

For the ambiance of an old country store, the centerpieces were unique for each table, with vintage lace table runners, stenciled box table numbers, antique bottles, and scatterings of wooden candlesticks, baskets, and birdhouses. A1 Catering and Event Planning served a Southern Sunday dinner with barbecued chicken, macaroni and cheese, and green beans. Krispy Kakes in Mount Pleasant baked a naked devil’s food cake, a red velvet cake, and a marble cake for a colorful display. Under a blaze of sparklers, the new couple departed in the groom’s father’s 1968 poppy-red Chevy for their relaxing Dominican Republic honeymoon.
